Positions for Non-Academic Staff

The Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), a leading social science research institute based in Delhi, invites applications for the posts of Deputy Librarian, Administrative Officer, Senior Research Assistant, Documentation Officer and Accounts Assistant.

The details are as follows:

1) Deputy Librarian 

The CSDS library is a research library, primarily used by members of the Faculty and Staff of CSDS. We are looking for a Deputy Librarian to lead a team of library staff to build and maintain the Centre’s collection of books and multimedia resources. Ability to generate and maintain an archival collection of documents, media resources and online collections of the Centre would be highly appreciated. 

Relevant educational qualification, work experience and other eligibility criteria for the post are:

Essential Requirements:

•   Master’s degree in Library Science from a recognized university.

•   Evidence of innovative library service and familiarity with computerization of library.

•   At least five years work experience as Assistant Librarian with proven capabilities.

Desirable Qualifications:

•   M.Phil. Degree in Library Science/ Information Science/ Documentation/ Archives and Manuscript keeping.

•   Seven years work experience as Assistant/Deputy Librarian with evidence of professional commitment.

•   Knowledge of Libsys and Koha software.

Age Limit: 50 years. Age limit may be relaxed in the case of exceptional candidates.

Pay Band: 37,400-67,000 with grade pay of 9,000.

2) Administrative Officer

The Administrative Officer of the Centre is expected to correspond with various stakeholders on behalf of the Centre, manage staff and be well versed in rules and regulations that are required for the efficient functioning of the Centre.

Relevant educational qualification, work experience and other eligibility criteria for the post are:

Essential Requirements:

•   Master’s degree in any subject from a recognized university.

•   Good verbal and written communication skills in both English and Hindi.

•   Computer proficiency, including knowledge of office management software.

•   At least five years work experience in supervisory position.

Desirable Qualifications:

•   Diploma or Certified course in Human Resource Management.

•   Familiarity with government rules and regulations pertaining to academic institutions.

•   Having knowledge of office procedure like maintenance of files, drafting and knowledge of academic/administrative matters.

Pay Band: 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of 5,400.

3) Senior Research Assistant

We are looking for candidates with good language and multimedia skills. Applicants must have basic audio and video editing skills as well as design competence. Successful applicants will work with CSDS faculty on multimedia publicity for ongoing research, design print publications and help generate content for web-based outreach networks. Applicants must have 3-5 years’ work experience.

We are looking for dynamic candidates who are interested in working creatively in a stimulating academic environment.

The qualifications and eligibility criteria for the position is as follows:

Essential Requirements:

•   Graduate in any subject from a recognized university.

•   Skills in graphic design, multimedia production and generation of web content.

•   Work experience of minimum 3 years.

Pay Band: 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of 4,800.

4) Documentation Officer

We are looking for dynamic candidates who are interested in working in a stimulating academic environment to build the library and archival resources of the Centre. Familiarity with multimedia research environments would be highly appreciated. 

The qualifications and eligibility criteria for the position is as follows:

Essential Requirements:

•   Bachelor’s degree in Library Science from a recognized university.

•   Experience in documentation or working in a Library for at least 3 years.

•   Computer proficiency.

Pay Band: 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of 4,600.

5) Accounts Assistant

The Accounts department manages the regular finances of the Centre, including audit and tax related matters. The qualifications and eligibility criteria for the position of Accounts Assistant is as follows:

Essential Requirements:

•   Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from a recognized university.

•   Computer proficiency, including knowledge of Tally, MS Office and Excel.

•   Familiarity with general financial rules and tax rules.

•   Experience of having worked in similar organizations for minimum 3 years.

Pay Band: 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of 4,200.
