Jayati Ghosh delivered a lecture on ‘Growth, Inequality and Public Policy in Contemporary India’. It was jointly organized by BML Munjal University, Gurugram and CSDS, Delhi.
This talk will examine the relationship between economic growth, inequality, and public policy in contemporary India. It will reflect on the structural challenges facing the Indian economy and the role of policy in shaping more inclusive and sustainable development. The conversation will also reflect on broader question of public policy in the contemporary era.
Jayati Ghosh is Professor of Economics, University of Massacusetts at Amherst, USA and former Professor, Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She has authored and/or edited 20 books and more than 200 scholarly articles. She has received several prizes, including the 2015 Adisheshaiah Award for distinguished contributions to the social sciences in India, the International Labour Organisation’s Decent Work Research Prize for 2011 and the NordSud Prize for Social Sciences 2010, Italy.
