CSDS announces a workshop series on ‘Voice in Academic Writing’ for undergraduate and postgraduate students to be held in-person from December 9-11, 2025.
Description of the Series
This series of three stand-alone workshops will offer an in-depth exploration of how academic voice is not simply a matter of individual style or skill but is actively produced through claims, evidence, and citation practices. The workshops also address a rapidly evolving contemporary reality - that academic voice is increasingly mediated, supported, and sometimes complicated by digital technologies such as large language models (LLMs) and artificial intelligence tools. We will discuss how these technologies are transforming the research and writing landscape, shifting what it means to generate claims, gather and evaluate evidence, and craft a scholarly voice. Through examples, guided exercises, and collective reading and writing, the series invites participants to critically engage with both the craft and content of academic writing.
