[POSTPONED] Aesthetics and Politics: Panel Discussion

POSTPONED: This is to inform you that the Panel Discussion on ‘Aesthetics and Politics: A Dialogue across Continents’ scheduled today at 6.30 pm has been postponed due to Coronavirus infection of the panelists. Inconvenience Regretted.

This is a conversation with the Other Universals (OU) Consortium, consisting of colleagues from four universities of South Africa ( Western Cape, Cape Town,  Johannesburg and Witwatersrand), American University of Beirut, University of West Indies, University of Ghana (Legon) and University of Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). The OU consortium asks what kind of anti-imperial solidarities have been imagined in locations marked by the struggle to refuse subordination and negation, as embodied in blackness, Orientalism, untouchability and non-normative sexualities in 19th and 20th century Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East and South Asia.  In other words, what does the Universal look like from elsewhere?
