This lecture is based on Rajdeep Sardesai’s new book 2024: The Election That Surprised India. The book brings to life the inside story of Indian politics and society. It will throw light on the reasons for one-sidedness of mainstream media narrative, failure of Modi led BJP’s drumbeat of achieving target of 400 seats and Rahul Gandhi led Congress staging an electoral comeback. It will deep dive into India’s most bruising and polarized political battle and the many stories that shaped an extraordinary election verdict.

Rajdeep Sardesai is an award-winning senior journalist, author and TV news presenter. He is currently the consulting editor and lead news anchor of the India Today Group. His books include 2019: How Modi Won India and 2014: The Election That Changed India, have been national bestsellers.

Sanjay Kumar is Professor at Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi.
